AFSE (Automotive Functional Safety Expert)

The second level of personal qualification is the Automotive Functional Safety Expert (AFSE). The AFSE is based on experience and recommended for experts, who have already experience in the implementation of ISO 26262 requirements

AFSE Qualification Steps (2nd Qualification Level)




Prerequisites

The second expert status is called "AFSE" (Automotive Functional Safety Expert): To attain it, you will have to demonstrate that you have performed relevant work for at least five years. Individuals desiring to achieve this status have to apply with the SGS-TÜV Saar Testing Commission, document their experience in Functional Safety and successfully pass a qualification audit.

Procedure

Individuals desiring to achieve this status have to apply with the SGS-TÜV Saar Testing Commission, document their experience in Functional Safety and successfully pass a 3-hours qualification audit. The audit is partitioned in 3 parts. The first part is an introduction in the experience of the candidate, the second part is to solve an exercise and the third part is a table of questions to the interpretation of ISO 26262.

Validity

The validity is for 3 years. For the extension of the AFSE qualification for additional 3 years no exam is necessary, but an evaluation, that the professional activities have been more than 50% in the area of automotive Functional Safety for the last three years. Details please see here.
