Faraday Technology Corporation is the world's first ISO 26262 certified ASIC service company to be awarded the certification for safety-relevant electric/electronic systems in motor vehicles. SGS-TÜV Saar, as an independent auditor, confirmed the Taiwanese company's excellent Functional Safety Processes. The design-development process has been certified by means of a pilot project for control units for the electric drive in e-cars.
According to McClean Report 2016, Faraday is one of the Top 50 fabless IC suppliers and known for their ASIC-components. ASIC stands for application-specific integrated circuit and refers to microchips, which can be adapted to the needs of the customer and the application. Many well-known automotive industry suppliers use these IT-components in their control units.
The SGS-TÜV Saar validates Faraday's development process conformity with the ISO 26262 certification. The basis for this was a comprehensive on-site audit. In this way, the company can successfully demonstrate that Functional Safety standards for the automotive industry are implemented in its development process and hardware design – starting from the product idea all the way to serial production.
